Mountain Rwenzori

Jinja and Sipi Falls are two popular tourist destinations in Uganda that offer visitors unique experiences. Jinja, known as the adventure capital of Uganda, is situated on the banks of the River Nile and is a hub for adrenaline-pumping activities such as white-water rafting, bungee jumping, and kayaking. The town also boasts a rich cultural heritage, with historical landmarks such as the Source of the Nile and the Speke Monument. Sipi Falls, on the other hand, is a serene and scenic destination located in the foothills of Mount Elgon. The area is known for its three-tiered waterfalls, which are surrounded by lush green vegetation and coffee plantations. Visitors to Sipi Falls can enjoy activities such as hiking, rock climbing, birdwatching, and coffee tours. Both destinations offer visitors a unique experience that combines adventure, culture, and nature, making them must-visit destinations for anyone traveling to Uganda.

Itinerary

The Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the Mountains of the Moon, are located in western Uganda and offer a unique mountaineering experience for adventurous travelers. The tour typically lasts for 9 days and involves trekking through the diverse landscapes of the Rwenzori Mountains, which range from lush forests to glacier-topped peaks, while encountering various wildlife along the way. The highlight of the tour is reaching the summit of Margherita Peak, the highest point on the mountain range, where trekkers can take in breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The trek requires a good level of fitness and hiking experience, but it is an unforgettable experience for those who are up to the challenge.


Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport. Your guide will be there waiting for you. Pick up and proceed to your accommodation.


Day 2: After breakfast, we drive to Rwenzori Mountains National Park where the guide will check your hiking equipment to ensure you are well-prepared, and any missing items can be rented in Kasese.


Day 3: Hike Day 1; Hike the central circuit of the Rwenzori Mountains, reaching 4.372m at Scott Elliot Pass, and see Mount Stanley and glaciers.


Day 4: Hike Day 2: Cross Kurt Shaffer Bridge, climb through bamboo, rocky area to Nyamuleju Hut. Giant lobelia and groundsel zone, bog, John Matte Hut.


Day 5: Hike Day 3; Hike from John Matte to Bujuku Hut via the Bigo bogs and Lake Bujuku, taking up to 5 hours with views of Mount Stanley, Baker, and Speke.


Day 6: Hike Day 4; Hike to Scott Elliot Pass for a stunning view of Margherita peak and glaciers, then to Kitandara Hut.


Day 7: Hike Day 5; From Guy Yeoman Hut you descend through bamboo forests and the heath zone, reaching Nyabitaba Hut, 2.652m, in about 5 hours.


Day 8: Hike Day 6; Complete circuit back to Nyabitaba Hut along Mobuku and Kichuchu rivers. Optional descent to Nyakalengija, adds 2-3 hours.


Day 9: Hike Day 7: Nyabitaba to Nyakalengija: 3 hrs. 40 min. the trail to Lake Mamoha. Descend to HQ. Transfer to hotel.


Day 10: Transfer back to Kampala. We will make a stop in Kampala for shopping. Transfer to the airport for your departure.
